    Texas at SCOTUS (ACS and TJCLCR)

    Join ACS and TJCLCR for a presentation focusing on Fisher I & II (affirmative action); Evenwel (one person, one vote); Inclusive Communities (Fair Housing Act case); and Northwest Austin v. Municipal Utility District No. 1 (VRA). Lunch provided!

    The event will feature Debo Adegbile and Madhu Chugh, both of WilmerHale.

    Mr. Adegbile served as senior counsel for the Senate Judiciary Committee and spent more than a decade working for the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund. Now a partner at WilmerHale in New York, Mr. Adegbile argued before the Supreme Court in Shelby County and Northwest Austin Municipal Utility District Number One.

    Madhu Chugh, counsel at WilmerHale in DC, served as the director of health care policy for the Kerry–Edwards campaign and worked on healthcare policy for Senator Edward Kennedy. She is an alumna of The University of Texas and a recipient of the 2013 Outstanding Young Texas Ex Award.

    Careers in Transactional Law

    The Business Law Section of the State Bar of Texas sponsors a panel discussion regarding the life of a transactional lawyer. A handful of practicing lawyers will describe the rewards, challenges and opportunities of a career as a business lawyer - these are lawyers who never go to court but work for law firms and companies in many exciting fields such as mergers and acquisitions, real estate, intellectual property, oil and gas, technology, etc. This moderated discussion is an open forum and the participants are encouraged to ask as many questions as they would like of the panelists. Panelists will include: Christina Marshall, General Counsel, Chalak Mitra Group; Carol B.
