National student loan expert Heather Jarvis to speak at Public Service Career Fair, February 1, 2013

National student loan expert Heather Jarvis will address public service professionals and students from UT Law and other Texas law schools in the Charles I. Francis Auditorium on February 1, 2013. This is her second consecutive year to present “Public Service Loan Forgiveness in Five Easy Steps” during the annual Public Service Career Fair, the largest public service legal job fair in Texas. This year she will also cover the details of President Obama’s new Pay As You Earn Repayment Plan, including how borrowers can determine whether they qualify.

Widely recognized for her expertise, Heather Jarvis has contributed to student debt relief policy for the House Education Committee and others in Congress. She has dedicated her professional efforts to advancing public service loan forgiveness, which allows recent graduates to dedicate their careers to the greater good. Many government and nonprofit professionals stand to gain tens of thousands of dollars of student debt relief from the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program established by the College Cost Reduction and Access Act. Jarvis knows how to break it down step-by-step so it makes sense to all.

A former capital defense attorney with law school debt, Jarvis now dedicates her expertise to helping student loan borrowers make better decisions so that higher education can be a reality for all—not just those who can afford it. Specializing in training for high-debt borrowers and the people who love them, Jarvis has provided guidance and information to thousands of students and alumni.

Jarvis will speak with law students, administrators, faculty, and employers on Friday, February 1, 2013, from noon to 1:15 p.m. in the Francis Auditorium at the Law School. The presentation, which will include lunch, is sponsored by the William Wayne Justice Center for Public Interest Law, the UT Law Career Services Office, and UT Law Financial Aid Office. There is no cost to attend.
