On November 6, Professor Michele Deitch was sworn into the U.S. Supreme Court Bar. Although this great occasion took place in Washington D.C., the spirit of Texas Law was ever-present. Deitch, who holds a joint appointment at the LBJ School and the School of Law, was sponsored for admission by Prof. Lynn Blais, a founder of Texas Law’s Supreme Court Clinic, and by Adjunct Prof. David C. Frederick ’89, another clinic founder. She was then introduced at the court by yet another clinic founder and director, Prof. Michael Sturley, who also happens to be her husband. Clinic students observed the proceedings and joined her for a behind-the-scenes tour of the court led by Jeff Quilici ’12, a current clerk for Justice Gorsuch. The LBJ School’s Lisa Porter covered the story on November 30, and we reprint her article here, with permission.
