🤘Student Spotlight: Daniella Nassar ’28

Portrait of Daniella Nassar

For this edition of Texas Law’s 2025-26 Student Spotlight series, meet 1L Daniella Nassar!

Hometown: Houston, Texas
Degree: B.S. in Corporate Communications, The University of Texas at Austin

As a UT undergraduate, you served on the Student Conduct Board for the President’s Office. How did that experience give you insight into how different parties tell their stories?

Serving on the board revealed how the same facts can generate different perspectives and distinct narratives. By listening to both parties, I was able to identify the key issues and apply the institutional rules fairly and consistently. Much like in the study of law, extending due process and giving all parties the full opportunity to be heard is vital to reaching reasoned, grounded judgments. This experience reinforced principles central to the law: weighing facts against established rules, maintaining impartiality, and recognizing that fair outcomes depend on fair processes.

What motivated you to start a blog focused on mental health, and what impact has it had?

I started a mental health blog for young girls, drawing on childhood experiences with bullying and recognizing how deeply mental health shapes confidence, performance, and well-being during such a formative stage. With a heart for service and advocacy, I recognized the power of storytelling to create relatability, foster support, and encourage resilience. Writing became not only a way to process my own experiences, but also a means of reminding others that they are not alone in life’s ups and downs. It has been a true honor to receive positive feedback and to exchange thoughts with girls who connected with my writing or found encouragement in the lessons I shared.

What do you like about going to school in Austin?

Austin has the perfect mix of energy and community. I went to UT for undergrad and loved the camaraderie and school spirit that comes with being a Longhorn, so it feels special to continue that journey in law school. Beyond UT pride, the city itself has so much to offer. From the beautiful hills and lake views to the vibrancy of downtown, there is always something new and exciting to experience. My favorite things include the music scene, food trucks, and the endless cultural events the city hosts, which bring a refreshing balance to the intensity of law school.

What are you most looking forward to in law school?

Having recently completed the Texas Law 2025 Transactional Skills Competition, I am eager to become even more involved on campus and take advantage of the many opportunities Texas Law offers. I look forward to building on the legal reasoning and critical thinking skills I have developed in the classroom by applying them in practical settings through pro bono projects, clinics, and other experiential opportunities. I am excited to see how these experiences continue to shape the way I think, reason, and communicate.

What is something you’re passionate about outside of classes?

Outside of classes, I love staying active. I was once a nationally ranked tennis player and enjoyed the competitive nature of sports. I have transitioned to pickleball, which I have become really passionate about because it is social, lighthearted, easy to pick up, and a great reason to spend time outdoors.

What influenced your decision to attend law school?

My cultural background gave me insight that justice and fairness are not guaranteed in every society, which deepened my pride in the American legal system and inspired me to pursue law as a way to safeguard fairness and support communities. Lawyers provide guidance that citizens cannot always secure alone, and the role demands both trust and expertise. Whether advocating in court or drafting a contract to protect a client’s interests, I am motivated by the weight of these responsibilities and the chance to serve others while upholding the principles of our legal system.
