What influenced your decision/motivated you to attend law school?
I took a Sports Law class as an undergraduate that perfectly combined my passion for sports with the legal field. Around the same time, a teammate faced contract issues. Eager to help, I began researching and trying to understand the relevant laws to assist him. Through that process, I discovered a deep and lasting passion for the law.
Your swimming achievements both as a Longhorn and in national and international competition are impressive, including being a finalist in the 200-meter freestyle at the 2024 USA Olympic Trials. What are some of your best memories from those experiences?
My fondest memories from my collegiate and international swim career revolve entirely around the people I met and the experiences we shared. At Texas, I created lifelong relationships, all of which challenged me to grow both in and out of the pool. Competing internationally allowed me to build incredible relationships with athletes and coaches from all over the world. The connections I made, both at home and abroad, are truly what I cherish most about my swimming journey.

How do the skills and discipline you sharpened as a swimmer translate to law school?
Swimming taught me the value of putting in the work and trusting that consistent effort pays off. In the pool, you see results only after months of intense training. That mindset has carried over to my approach to law school, where success seems to come from staying disciplined and being persistent. Swimming also taught me the importance of relationships and community. Being around teammates who shared my drive pushed me to be better, and I learned how much surrounding yourself with people who value hard work and achievement can elevate your own performance. In law school, collaborating with peers, learning from professors, and being part of a community of driven people has a similar impact.
What are you most looking forward to at Texas Law?
Creating lifelong friendships. Texas Law has a uniquely supportive and collegial atmosphere where students genuinely want to see each other succeed. I’m excited to build relationships that are meaningful both personally and professionally, and that will last well beyond law school.
What’s your favorite study spot — and why?
A library cubby for daily readings because it’s quiet and helps me stay focused, and the conference rooms for finals prep since they’re perfect for group review and collaborative studying
As an Austinite, what attraction or experience would you recommend a classmate new to the area not miss?
Hancock Golf Course. It’s a hidden gem right in the city. It’s an affordable, walkable course with a unique layout and a laid-back Austin vibe that makes it a great way to unwind and meet people.
