Students will edit and write sample motions for the Texas Defender Service motions bank, which will be distributed to capital defense teams across the state. The motions likely will be filed in real cases and aid defense lawyers in providing top-quality representation to people facing the death penalty. The project involves writing everything from discovery motions and motions in limine to constitutional challenges to the death penalty and certain capital sentencing procedures.
