Students will work as part of a team of lawyer and law student volunteers to ensure that all registered Texas voters are able to cast a ballot that is accurately counted by working with our state and county officials to ensure elections run smoothly, and by addressing problems quickly and effectively when they occur. If/when MALDEF receives reports of possible voting rights violations in Austin on Election Day, students will visit the location of the report to gather more information and possibly help ameliorate the situation.
