Texas Law Least Restrictive Alternatives to Guardianship Clinic

Students will help young adults with disabilities and their families assess legal alternatives to guardianship and execute documents for alternatives to guardianship that are appropriate for each young adult’s particular situation. Students will learn about and be trained to help prepare powers of attorney, psychiatric advanced directives, and supported decision-making agreements. Prior to meeting with law student volunteers, clinic participants will attend a presentation that provides an overview of legal, financial, and community supports available as potential alternatives to guardianship.
