Professor William Forbath, Lloyd M. Bentsen Chair in Law

Professor William Forbath, holder of the Lloyd M. Bentsen Chair in Law, recently gave a lecture at the University of Oregon entitled “Human Rights: the Socialism of the 21st Century?” Video of his talk is available on the University of Oregon’s website.  The lecture discussed the strengths and weaknesses of social and economic rights movements, and how they work as vehicles of distributive justice. Forbath was the Oregon Humanities Center’s 2010–11 Colin Ruagh Thomas O’Fallon Memorial Lecturer in Law and American Culture.   Forbath also was interviewed on Oregon Public Television on the general topic of constitutional history and the Constitution today.  That interview is available here.
