Tug-of-war may have been rained out at the 2013 Society Games, but it hardly dampened the competition and spirit of the annual field day where dozens of law students gathered for an afternoon of fun and games.
A community-building and recreation component of UT Law’s Society Program, the annual Society Games pit eight teams of students against each other in friendly competition.
In September, ESPN’s Longhorn Network filmed the games at UT’s intramural fields and interviewed students, faculty and staff. Watch Pictionary played outdoors, group jump rope, tag and more quirky games starring enthusiastic law students.
After most of the games were played and a heavy downpour soaked the players, the Sheffield Society came out on top. Led by faculty adviser and UT Law Professor Michael Sturley and society coordinator Katie Ostrander, the Sheffield Society claimed its third straight victory in the Society Games as well as collected the most canned goods for charity and took home a Texas-sized trophy.
