Prof. Loftus C. Carson II

The Law School community is greatly saddened by the passing of The Ronald D. Krist Professor in Law, Loftus C. Carson II (1946-2016).

Prof. Carson served on the Texas Law faculty for more than 20 years, teaching corporations, securities regulation, nonprofit organizations, higher education and the law, and employment law.  In 2002, he received the Student Bar Association Award for Teaching Excellence.

After graduating from Cornell University in 1968, Prof. Carson received his law degree from Harvard Law School in 1973.  He clerked for United States Third Circuit Judge Collins Seitz. While teaching, Prof. Carson also earned multiple degrees: a Master in Public Affairs from Princeton; a Master of Business Administration from the University of Pennsylvania; and, a Doctorate in Education from the University of Pennsylvania.

He was a dedicated teacher and mentor to many generations of students. He will be missed by all of us.
