Law School cosponsors inaugural University of Texas Energy Forum, February 3-4, 2011
The University of Texas School of Law’s Center for Global Energy, International Arbitration, and Environmental Law is a major sponsor of the inaugural University of Texas Energy Forum, a student-initiated conference on February 3–4, 2011, that brings together a cross-section of the University of Texas’s faculty, students, and staff with industry, government, and NGO partners to explore today’s most pressing energy challenges. -

The Law School’s Actual Innocence Clinic and William Wayne Justice Center for Public Interest Law will co-present a book talk with Dorothy Budd, author of Tested: How Twelve Wrongly Imprisoned Men Held onto Hope, on Tuesday, February 22, 2011, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Sheffield Room at the Law School. Christopher Scott, one of the men profiled in the book, will join her. -

UT Law Pro Bono Program Sends Thirty-Three Law Students to the Rio Grande Valley
On January 9–14, 2011, thirty-three students and four faculty members from the University of Texas School of Law spent the last week of their winter break in the Texas Rio Grande Valley helping to provide pro bono legal assistance in underserved communities. -

Dr. Claudia Briones from the National University of Río Negro in Argentina will present a lecture entitled “Bringing Anthropology to Court: The Promotion of Trialogues for the Enforcement of Indigenous Rights.” -

Larry Macon, ’70, sets world record for most marathons run in a year
Larry Macon, ’70, has set the world record for most marathons run in a year. Macon, 66, is an attorney in San Antonio and ran 106 marathons in 2010, which is one more than he ran in 2008. -

Meredith Shytles, a third-year student at the Law School, has won a prestigious post-graduate Skadden Fellowship. Shytles will use the fellowship at Austin-based Advocacy Inc., working with teenage girls with disabilities in the foster care or juvenile justice system.
