Three of Six 2013 Texas Exes Distinguished Alumnus Award Recipients Law School Alumni
The Texas Exes—the University of Texas at Austin’s alumni association—has given its highest honor, the Distinguished Alumnus Award, to three Law School graduates this year: Linda Addison, ’76; Wallace B. Jefferson, ’88; and Janiece Longoria, ’79. -

Law School Alumni Association announces 2013 distinguished alumni award recipients
The University of Texas Law Alumni Association has announced the recipients of its 2013 distinguished alumni awards. Kathryn Fuller, ’76, received the Outstanding Alumnus Award; The Honorable Robert M. Parker, ’64, received the Lifetime Achievement Award; Joe R. Long, ’58, received the Distinguished Alumnus Award for Community Service; and Dick DeGuerin, ’65, received the Honorary Order of the Coif. -

The Law School's annual Diversity Weekend was held February 22–23, 2013, at the University of Texas. Alumni from all over met with Dean Ward Farnsworth and representatives from the Center for Women in Law as well as students from the Asian Law Students Association, Chicano/Hispanic Students Association, OUTLaw, the Thurgood Marshall Legal Society, and the Women's Law Caucus. -

On January 17, 2013, the Texas Journal of Oil, Gas, and Energy Law awarded the 2013 Ernest E. Smith Lifetime Achievement Award to Marianne Carroll, ’81, partner at Brown McCarroll LLP. This prestigious award is given to a distinguished attorney who has made significant contributions to the oil, gas, and energy industry. -

Faculty and eight students from the University of Texas School of Law’s Supreme Court Clinic will travel to Washington, D.C., to hear oral arguments in one of their current cases, Fane Lozman v. The City of Riviera Beach, Florida, on Monday, October 1, 2012, the opening of the United States Supreme Court’s current term. The case will be argued by David C. Frederick, ’89, codirector of the Supreme Court Clinic and partner at Kellogg, Huber, Hansen, Todd, Evans & Figel PLLC, in Washington, D.C. This will be Frederick’s thirty-eighth argument before the Court. -

Meg Clifford, ’12, joins Justice Center as “School-to-Prison Pipeline” project research fellow
The Law School’s William Wayne Justice Center for Public Interest Law is partnering with the UT Division of Diversity and Community Engagement (DDCE) to fund a two-year research fellow to work on a new “School-to-Prison Pipeline” project. Meg Clifford, ’12, has been selected for the position. -
